How It Works

Step 1

Security Cameras

Commercial-grade infrared (IR) or night-vision network (security) cameras capture all parking activity.

Step 2

Admin Portal

Users access Parkva’s web-based admin portal to set parameters for parking rules, notification, and enforcement.

Step 3

Video Analytics

Parkva’s proprietary video analytics software uses computer vision (CV) and artificial intelligence (AI) to track every vehicle and driver to determine whether a driver has violated parking lot rules. Depending on the deployment, video analytics processing takes place on the premises in an edge device or is streamed to cloud-based servers.

Step 4

Notification

Once a violation is detected, LotSentinel™ queries the admin portal to route the notification. Depending on the configuration settings, a notice may be routed to the enforcement entity, whether that’s a property owner, a PPI tow company, a Parking Enforcement Officer (PEO), or the vehicle owner, warning them of the violation.

Optional notification functionality

Automated license plate recognition (ALPR) is required to support ticketing, prepopulated authorization forms, and text notifications to vehicle owners. For seamless workflow integration, PPI towers can choose to have LotSentinel™ notifications routed through leading towing dispatch software solutions.

Step 4

Authorization

Where authorization is required before initiating a PPI tow, the approval can be performed either manually for each violation or automatically, based on a ruleset. LotSentinel™ automatically generates a signed tow authorization form when a towing ordinance requires one.
